Alaska Mapped can ingest most data formats. However, to be able to successfully read and geo-locate the data in our services the data itself or associated metadata needs to provide some fundamental things:
- Projection
- Datum
- a well defined no-data value
- Extents if not included in the data format (e.g., world file)
We prefer to receive data in the following formats for ease of ingestion:
- GeoTIFF
- ERDAS Image File (HFA)
However, we will happy to accept data in any geo-referenced format.
Additionally for DEM data, we need to know:
- the vertical units: feet or meters
- the horizontal and vertical datums
- the geoid model
- whether the data is ellipsoid or orthometric heights
